Dreaming of becoming a doctor who has mastered the best of both Eastern and Western medical knowledge? Here’s your chance to do so quickly and without stress.

While this possibility might sound “too good to be true,” the seven-year collaborative track developed by Maharishi University of Management (MUM) and American University of Integrative Sciences School of Medicine (AUIS), located in St. Maarten, does offer such a program—and even more.

Students undertaking the joint program will start at MUM, gaining relevant knowledge and skills for attending medical school and receiving a bachelor’s degree in Pre-Integrative Medicine.

Integrative medicine is the practice of modern, conventional medicine integrated with natural, complementary, and alternative medical practices.

The Pre-Integrative Medicine Track offers foundation courses in both modern science and Maharishi AyurVeda®. It prepares students for medical school and graduate training in other health professions.

This track is particularly suited for students who want to pursue a career in integrative health care as a physician or other licensed health professional. Integrative medicine is the practice of modern, conventional medicine integrated with natural, complementary, and alternative medical practices.

Upon successful completion of MUM’s B.S. program, students can matriculate directly into AUIS, without any hassle of additional tests, applications, or interviews.

Enjoy Less Stress and Better Health

While bypassing separate medical school entrance procedures already takes a big burden off the students’ shoulders, it’s not the only way the bodies and minds of budding doctors are spared the harmful effects of stress.

Get-the-Best-Medical-Training2All undergrads at MUM are trained in and regularly practice the Transcendental Meditation® (TM) technique, which has been scientifically shown to increase resilience to stress, boost brain power, and improve overall health and well-being. All these benefits will help prepare future doctors for the challenges of both medical school and their professional careers.

The four-year medical school program at AUIS includes two years of basic sciences taught on the island and two years of clinical rotations in American hospitals, including one rotation at the MUM campus clinic, for training in specialties such as internal medicine, surgery, family medicine, pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, and psychiatry. During the rotations, students will continue their studies in order to integrate modern medical and natural medical practices via ongoing tele-seminars with MUM faculty.

The Pre-Integrative Medicine Track offers foundation courses in both modern science and Maharishi AyurVeda. It prepares students for medical school and graduate training in other health professions.

By enrolling in the Integrative Medicine M.D. program at AUIS, the future doctors will graduate with a dual degree: an M.D. from American University of Integrative Sciences (AUIS) and an M.S. in Maharishi AyurVeda and Integrative Medicine from MUM. This entire degree program can be completed in as little as seven years instead of the typical eight or more.

Gaining Western Knowledge

The Pre-Integrative Medicine Track offers courses in the following areas of study that are required for most modern (allopathic), osteopathic, and chiropractic medical schools. These academic areas are generally included in the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT).

  • Physics
  • General chemistry
  • Organic chemistry
  • Biochemistry
  • Biology

MUM general education courses offer necessary writing skills and math proficiency to prepare students for these courses.

Some medical schools and health care training programs may require additional coursework that is not required by the major. It is recommended that students consult with the admissions office of the school they are planning to attend after graduation to determine if they need to take additional classes.

They will be well qualified to fill the increasing number of job openings in integrative medicine clinics and centers in the U.S.”
