For such a tiny town, Fairfield’s achievements are quite impressive. “We’ve been recognized as the most entrepreneurial city in America, under 10,000 population,” says Mayor Ed Malloy. It’s also home to Maharishi University of Management and some 3,000 practitioners of the TM technique.
Remarkable creativity, award-winning innovation, and harmonious, conscious living are a few of the features that make this Iowa town stand out, attracting students, young families, older retirees, and everyone in between. Take a peek, in this delightful video!

Hi Steve. One way that I see this can be done in other parts of the country is to inspire your local TM meditators to get together and work with the local TM Center (if there is one) and think of ways that you can bring TM to other groups in your community in the hopes and with the intention that it will grow from there into another vibrant TM community.
Wow! How can this be done in other areas of the country?
Thank you Steve! So glad you like it! Our unique town and it’s thriving creativity is due to the simple daily practice of the effortless Transcendental Meditation technique which brings fullness to our actions through the direct experience of having contacted our own infinite source during meditation. Any town or city can unfold their creative potential through this practice of rest and activity. Please see our website for more info on our lovely little town, fairfieldinfocenter.org. Hope to have you visit someday. All our best to you ~ Lark (info center manager)
I have been to Fairfield. A fellow TM meditator lived there several years ago. Upon arrival, I was immediately struck with how the atmosphere of the town radiated a feeling of peace. I was almost dumbstruck by the obvious sensation of tranquility in the town. Is there a community theatre group I can join? OR… maybe I could move there and start one.
Thanks William, for this wonderful report of your visit to Fairfield! I feel the same thing every time I visit as well. You’ll also be happy to learn that there’s a very active theatre community in town, with the Fairfield Area Community Theatre https://facttheatre.weebly.com. There are also productions at Maharishi University of Management and the Maharishi School (K-12)– and probably others too. Come visit and join, or start another one too!
Hi William, Lark here from the FF&TM Info Center, fairfieldinfocenter.org. We do have an active theater population here in Fairfield. There are some locals who perform at our Sondeim Center for the performing arts (see our website), and we have a popular improv and screen play group here too! Plenty of writers and writing groups also, if that is your forte. Please phone us or stop in to our Center just north of the Fairfield Square. We’re easy to find. See our about us page on the site for more info on us. We would welcome you to our vibrant community for a visit or if you decide to settle down here! Thank you for you comment. ~ Lark
