Frederick Travis, Ph.D., is the co-author of World-Class Brain: The Edge That Helps Peak Performers Succeed, and How You Can Develop It. He is also the author of three other books, including Excellence through Mind-Brain Development: The Secrets of World-Class Performers.

Dr. Travis describes how high levels of brain integration lead to more accurate analysis of the environment and, therefore, more effective decision-making and behavior. He discusses his research that shows how specific characteristics of brain integration underlie the success of world-class performers. He also talks about how these characteristics of brain integration increase in regular practitioners of the TM technique.

As one of the world’s leading researchers of the effects of meditation on brain integration, Dr. Travis has published 84 scientific papers on the subject. His work has focused on brain development from birth to adulthood; the effects of stress on brain functioning; the effects of meditation on the brain during and after meditation practice; and the brain patterns correlated with peak performance and higher states of consciousness.

Dr. Travis is the Director of the Center for Brain, Consciousness, and Cognition at Maharishi International University (MIU) in Fairfield, Iowa, and the Dean of MIU’s Graduate School.

Mario Orsatti, the host of TM Talks and Senior Teacher of the Center for Health and Wellness, a division of the David Lynch Foundation, interviewed Dr. Travis on February 21, 2021. This episode was rebroadcast on January 29, 2023.
