Dr. Taddy Blecher, a visionary social entrepreneur and pioneer of Consciousness-Based Education®, describes his journey from a childhood in which learning was treasured above all else to becoming one of the world’s leading innovators in education. He reflects on his discovery of the TM technique and his recognition that the development of consciousness should be the foundation of education, which led him to build institutions that have transformed the lives of thousands of young people.
Dr. Blecher also suggests that the growing numbers of people practicing the TM technique in South Africa may have contributed to greater harmony and cooperation that led to the formation of a Government of National Unity in 1994. He shares his vision of awakening the unlimited potential within every individual and creating a brighter future for the world.
Dr. Taddy Blecher is the CEO of the Maharishi Invincibility Institute in Johannesburg, South Africa, which was selected by Stanford University as one of the 12 most innovative higher education institutions in the world in 2025; the CEO of the Imvula Empowerment Fund; and the Chairperson of South Africa’s national Entrepreneurship, Employability, and Education (E³) Initiative.
Dr. Taddy Blecher … shares his vision of awakening the unlimited potential within every individual and creating a brighter future for the world.
Originally trained as an actuary and management consultant, Dr. Blecher left the corporate world to dedicate his life to expanding educational opportunities for South Africa’s young people. Under his leadership, the Maharishi Invincibility Institute has helped educate nearly 30,000 formerly unemployed young people, 70% of whom are women, and has placed more than 22,500 graduates into quality employment. Today, the work of the institute and its affiliated organizations has directly impacted the lives of more than two million people throughout South Africa.
Dr. Blecher also co-founded the Branson Center of Entrepreneurship with Sir Richard Branson and has been honored by the World Economic Forum as both a Global Leader of Tomorrow and a Young Global Leader. Inspired by TM Founder Maharishi Mahesh Yogi’s vision of developing the full potential of every individual, he continues to demonstrate how Consciousness-Based Education can transform lives, strengthen communities, and help shape the future of a nation and even the world.
Christine Albers, host of TM Talks, interviewed Taddy Blecher, PhD. This interview was aired on August 16, 2026.
