David Orme-Johnson, Ph.D., is one of the world’s leading experts in the scientific study of meditation, having published more than 100 studies on the effects of Transcendental Meditation (TM) practice on health and human development. His studies have been published in scores of scientific journals, including American Psychologist, American Journal of Health Promotion, International Journal of Neuroscience, and Journal of Adult Development.

Dr. Orme-Johnson was one of the early pioneers in demonstrating the effectiveness of the TM technique in eliminating stress. His groundbreaking study on the TM technique and brain functioning showed that the unique, coherent electrical activity in the brain during TM practice was correlated with states of increased creativity and intelligence, enhanced moral reasoning, and decreased neuroticism. He was also the first to research the effects of meditation in prisons, showing that TM practice increases autonomic stability and cognitive flexibility.

This webinar is the first in a series of discussions with Dr. Orme-Johnson. During this interview, he explains the insights modern science has gained over the past 50 years into how the daily practice of the TM technique brings about the holistic personal development that leads to a more creative, healthy, and fulfilling life.

Mario Orsatti, the host of TM Talks and the Executive Director of the Center for Health and Wellness, a division of the David Lynch Foundation, interviewed Dr. Orme-Johnson on August 9, 2020.
