In this historic talk, TM Founder Maharishi Mahesh Yogi talks about how music expresses the creative intelligence of nature and why we are naturally attracted to music. He says, “The wholeness of Being in its eternal silence warms up and produces the background of the music of life. On the foreground of this ocean of Being spring up the waves of relativity, the waves of life.”
Maharishi also talks about the creative process of the musician and how musicians can play an important role in the evolution of society.
Lea Cho, Director of Programs and Special Projects at the David Lynch Foundation (DLF), joins TM Talks host Mario Orsatti, Senior Teacher of the DLF Center for Health and Wellness, to discuss Maharishi’s talk.
“The wholeness of Being in its eternal silence warms up and produces the background of the music of life. On the foreground of this ocean of Being spring up the waves of relativity, the waves of life.” —Maharishi Mahesh Yogi
Maharishi brought the Transcendental Meditation program from India to the West in 1959. Since then, more than 10 million people of all ages, cultures, and religions have learned the TM technique. In 1963, Maharishi published his seminal book, Science of Being and Art of Living, which was translated into 15 languages. His second book, published in 1967, was Maharishi Mahesh Yogi on the Bhagavad-Gita: A New Translation and Commentary. He wrote many more books and circled the world numerous times, speaking with world leaders and lecturing widely.
Maharishi also inspired a scientific quest for enlightenment. Over 700 published studies on the TM technique have demonstrated its far-reaching benefits—better health and longer life, greater intelligence and creativity, more fulfilling relationships and work success, reduced societal stress, and effortless creation of peace.
