Sarah Bence is the Director of Development at Dhammajarinee Witthaya, a free school for underserved students in Thailand. She talks about how the school offers the Transcendental Meditation and TM-Sidhi® programs to its teachers and students, and the tremendously positive impact this has had on their lives. She shares stories and videos from the school and talks about their expansion plans to become a model school for all of Thailand and Asia.

In addition to her work at Dhammajarinee, Ms. Bence teaches the TM technique in Scotland and is the Head of Fundraising and Partnerships for the David Lynch Foundation UK. She has an extensive background in nonprofits and philanthropy—including charities focused on mental health, girls’ equality and education, human rights, social entrepreneurship, and homelessness. She herself has been practicing TM for 25 years.

The Dhammajarinee Witthaya school and its students have won many awards and received growing recognition for their achievements since first introducing the TM technique in 2008, particularly in science, technology, engineering, and math. The school is now a featured organization of the Michelle Obama’s Girls Opportunity Alliance for outstanding work in educating and empowering adolescent girls. You can learn more about the school by following them on Facebook and Instagram.
