Guillermo Vidal is an author, former mayor, and longtime public servant and community leader. Born in Cuba, he immigrated to the United States in 1961, at the age of 10, with his two older brothers. Upon arrival, they spent three years in an orphanage before reuniting with their parents.

Over the course of his distinguished career, Mr. Vidal has served as President and CEO of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Metro Denver, Deputy Mayor and Manager of Public Works for the City of Denver, and Executive Director of the Denver Regional Council of Governments. He also served for 23 years in the Colorado Department of Transportation. He holds a BS in civil engineering from the University of Colorado, Denver.
Mr. Vidal is the author of two books: Catch and Release, a memoir about rediscovering his authentic self, and Boxing for Cuba, which offers a powerful perspective on the immigrant experience.
