What more can we do to create greater national harmony and unity during these turbulent times?

With the global pandemic, economic disruption, and the widespread call for equity and justice within our communities, our nation is facing an unprecedented period of change.

“I think all would agree that we are currently living through a special time in history, defined by unexpected challenges demanding ever greater resourcefulness and a unified focus,” says renowned quantum physicist John Hagelin, Ph.D., President of Maharishi International University.

Dr. John Hagelin, President of Maharishi International University and National Director of Maharishi Foundation USA

As the National Director of Maharishi Foundation USA, the nonprofit educational organization that teaches the Transcendental Meditation program in the United States, Dr. Hagelin is often asked, “What more can we do to create greater harmony and unity during these turbulent times—especially with an important national election only a few months away?”

Dr. Hagelin shares these concerns and deeply appreciates everyone’s “commitment to creating a bright future for the nation.” For these reasons, he has launched a National Coherence Campaign so that we can synchronize our practice of the TM technique and the advanced TM-Sidhi® program from home—no matter where we live. (Schedules below.)

As part of this campaign, Dr. Hagelin and MIU have started a Special Webinar Series that will be held every weekend through the end of November, beginning September 5 and 6, featuring top speakers from around the world. Replays will be available at MIUTalks.org.

A Scientific Approach for Using the TM Technique as a Tool for Reducing Stress and Increasing Social Harmony

We are all familiar with how the TM technique powerfully reduces stress in the individual. Many may not be aware, however, that over the past four decades, dozens of studies, published in leading scientific journals, have shown the remarkable effect of collective TM practice in reducing acute societal stress and conflict. For the past several months, thousands of practitioners of the TM technique and the advanced TM-Sidhi program from around the country have been joining together in large group practice. From the comfort of their own homes, they have synchronized their TM practice with newly established group meditation times.

Dozens of studies, published in leading scientific journals, have shown the remarkable effect of collective TM practice in reducing acute societal stress and conflict.

The Power of a Group Meditating Together

“We invite you to take advantage of this opportunity. We have a well-documented formula to reduce social stress and increase positive tendencies. Let’s use it during this time of need,” says Dr. Hagelin.

“Please spread this message far and wide so that we can create the largest coherence-creating group in the history of our country, extending across every state in the nation,” says Dr. Hagelin.

As mentioned above, published research has shown that large group practice of the TM and TM-Sidhi programs relieves acute societal stress, thereby reducing crime and conflict, and even stopping open warfare in war-torn areas.

With impressive evidence from more than 40 large-scale studies, this nonviolent approach to peace has caught the attention of world leaders and become the favored approach of organizations like the Global Union of Scientists for Peace. Learn more at GUSP.org ►

In this one-hour presentation, quantum physicist Dr. Hagelin will reveal the deep quantum connections that exist between people—even at vast distances—by way of lucid graphics and illustrations.

“We have in our hands a proven technology of peace. And our human nervous system is the instrument. Now we’re putting it to use on a massive scale,” says Dr. Hagelin, who in addition to being a highly-regarded physicist is also an educator, author, and leading proponent of peace. He has conducted pioneering research at CERN (the European Center for Particle Physics) and at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center. He is responsible for the development of a highly successful grand unified field theory based on the superstring—a theory that was featured in a cover story of Discover magazine. “I look forward to seeing you on September 5, and to creating with you a huge upsurge of coherence and positivity for our country—from now through the end of November,” says Dr. Hagelin.

To help us meet the challenges of these unprecedented times, we need to optimize both our brain and immune functioning.

Dr. Fred Travis, Director, MIU Center for Brain, Consciousness, and Cognition

Leading brain researcher Fred Travis, Ph.D., will explain the science behind recommendations for optimizing both, including: hydration, sleep, exercise, Maharishi YogaSM Asanas, TM practice, and the effect of our built environment on our thinking and behavior. He will share concrete steps to better deal with these challenging times.

Dr. Travis is one of the world’s most published researchers in the area of meditation and brain functioning. He received his Masters and Ph.D. in psychology with a specialization in psychophysiology from Maharishi International University in 1988, and held a two-year post-doctoral position at the University of California, Davis, exploring brain changes during sleep.

Dr. Travis returned to MIU to direct research at the Center for Brain, Consciousness, and Cognition. Since 1990, he has authored 87 papers that investigate the relation between brain patterns, states of consciousness, and meditation practice. Learn more about Dr. Travis ►
