“Transcendental Meditation can significantly reduce anxiety and increase resilience among urban youth, according to a new study conducted by WestEd, a highly respected educational research, development, and service agency,” reports the David Lynch Foundation. “Regular meditators also showed significant increases in class attendance and even greater improvements in resilience. ”
Published in the July 2015 edition of Contemporary School Psychology, the study was funded by the Metta Fund and matched 141 freshmen participating in the school’s Quiet Time program with students at a similar school. After just six months, statistically significant improvements in anxiety and resilience were noted.
Students also reported better sleep, more happiness, and greater self-confidence.
