In her professional practice, Bagambhrini Gerace Thompkins, MD, brings together modern medicine, Ayurveda, and a lifelong commitment to caring for the whole person. A family physician who grew up in Fairfield, Iowa, within the Transcendental Meditation community, Dr. Thompkins draws on her extensive experience to explore an approach to health that supports physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being. She discusses how these two systems of medicine can complement one another and shares what she has learned about helping people achieve lasting health and well-being.
Dr. Thompkins is a board-certified family physician with more than 30 years of experience in Ayurveda. Alongside evidence-based family medicine, she incorporates this ancient science of natural health into her practice when patients choose this approach.

Dr. Thompkins earned her Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience and Cognitive Science, with minors in Fine Arts and Music, and her Doctor of Medicine from the University of Arizona. She completed her Family Medicine Residency at Milton S. Hershey Medical Center in Pennsylvania.
Throughout her career, Dr. Thompkins has practiced full-spectrum family medicine, caring for patients of all ages, and providing preventive care, mental health treatment, chronic disease management, addiction medicine, prenatal care, hospice care, and other services. She has also served as an adjunct faculty member and community preceptor, mentoring medical students and family medicine residents to help educate the next generation of physicians.
