James Meredith is one of the San Francisco Bay Area’s most versatile musicians, best known as the conductor of the acclaimed Sonos Handbell Ensemble, whose recordings have received national recognition and airplay. He has collaborated with renowned artists, including Frederica von Stade, Elly Ameling, and Elisabeth Schwarzkopf, performing across the U.S., Europe, and Asia.

Mr. Meredith holds degrees from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Tulane University and has worked with prestigious institutions such as the Oakland Symphony Chorus, Festival Opera, and San José State University. He has been on the faculty of the Young Musicians Choral Orchestra for 17 years.
A pioneer in elevating handbell artistry, Mr. Meredith has led Sonos in collaborations with the San Francisco Symphony, the Kronos Quartet, and major festivals nationwide. He is also a published composer and founder of Meredith Music Press, specializing in advanced handbell music.
