Craig Pearson, Ph.D., is the author of The Supreme Awakening: Experiences of Higher States of Consciousness Throughout Time—and How You Can Cultivate Them. Throughout history, great men and women have described exalted experiences—moments of extraordinary wakefulness, inner freedom, and happiness—as different from our ordinary waking experience as waking is from dreaming.
Dr. Pearson discusses his decades of research on these experiences and gives us a glimpse of what he has discovered in the writings of people like Laozi, Plato, Rumi, St. Teresa of Avila, Emerson, Emily Dickinson, Black Elk, and Einstein—people who have described experiences that rank among the most inspiring in all of literature.
He helps us recognize that these experiences of higher levels of human functioning are growing in our own lives through our daily practice of the Transcendental Meditation technique.
Dr. Pearson speaks around the United States and internationally on the topic of human development and higher states of consciousness. He has a B.A. from Duke University, an M.A. in Writing from the University of Iowa, and a Ph.D. from Maharishi International University, where he currently serves as a member of the faculty and Vice President of Academic Affairs.
Mario Orsatti, the host of TM Talks and Senior Teacher of the Center for Health and Wellness, a division of the David Lynch Foundation, interviewed Dr. Pearson on December 27, 2020. This popular episode was rebroadcast on January 2, 2022.
