Brian Rees, M.D., M.P.H., a retired U.S. Army Colonel, discusses the importance of self-healing and how an individual’s holistic development can contribute to solving the problems of society. Dr. Rees is a graduate of the U.S. Army War College and a veteran of five tours in Iraq and Afghanistan; he spent eight years in hospital commands.
Currently, Dr. Rees serves as the co-chair of the David Lynch Foundation’s Operation Warrior Wellness, and is the Director of TM for Veterans, helping to make the Transcendental Meditation program available for veterans and service personnel.
Dr. Rees has researched and written about soldier resilience and the resolution of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), most recently as the lead author of two published studies about the effects of TM practice on resolving PTSD among Congolese refugees.
He is the author of several books, including Heal Your Self, Heal Your World: Turn Illness and Suffering into Health and Peace through Scientifically Proven Methods. He received his medical degree and Master’s in Public Health from Tulane University.
