Arlene Maguire discusses her inspiring life as a writer of children’s books—a passion she has pursued as an elementary school teacher, owner of a successful insurance agency, and well into her retirement years. She shares the joy and enthusiasm she finds in writing for children. Many of her lyrical books foster self-esteem, while others are educational and inspirational, or simply written for fun.
Ms. Maguire also discusses a personal turning point: discovering the Transcendental Meditation (TM) technique during a challenging period in her life. She explains how learning the TM and TM-Sidhi® programs transformed her life, empowered her writing, and continues to provide her with energy and clarity as an author at the remarkable age of 85.
Ms. Maguire was born in Newark, New Jersey, and graduated cum laude from Rutgers University with a degree in education. Inspired by her work with elementary school students, she began writing picture books designed to engage and uplift young readers. She has published eight children’s books, with over 100,000 copies sold. Her titles are available on Amazon and at Barnes & Noble.

In 1993, she founded Maguire Health Insurance Services, a firm that grew to become one of the most successful insurance agencies in San Diego County. Her work there allowed her to assist clients of all ages, from young adults to seniors, in making well-informed insurance decisions.
