Harald Harung, Ph.D., is Professor of Management and Performance at Oslo Metropolitan University in Norway. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Manchester, a public research university in England, and has been a researcher at Oxford University, a naval officer, the CEO of an engineering company, and president of an international business college.
Dr. Harung is the co-author of two recent books, World-Class Brain and Excellence through Mind-Brain Development, the latter published by Rutledge, the world’s leading academic publisher in the humanities and social sciences. Both books present a Unified Theory of Performance, which holds that higher mind-brain development provides the basis of higher performance in any profession or field of activity.
Dr. Harung and his co-author, brain researcher Fred Travis, Ph.D., have verified this theory by studying the brain function of world-class performers in sports, management, and classical music. This research found that on a measure of mind-brain development, top performers in these three areas, on average, consistently scored almost twice as high as average-performing control subjects.
Dr. Harung discusses his new books and their important implications for those practicing the Transcendental Meditation technique.
Mario Orsatti, the host of TM Talks and Executive Director of the Center for Health and Wellness, a division of the David Lynch Foundation, pre-taped his interview with Dr. Harung due to time zone differences, then aired the replay on February 7, 2021.
